Glenigan: London construction 'poised for resurgence'

London’s construction market is “poised for resurgence” according to Glenigan, with the data provider highlighting an uptick in approved projects for the capital.

Glenigan has found 127 office projects - each valued at up to £100m - have secured detailed planning permission and are set to break ground within the next 12 months.

The office sector is leading this construction activity, with 35 high-profile developments also in the pipeline. This includes the £400m Dovetail Building in the City of London which is due to begin construction at the end of 2025.

Contractors have also returned bids for the £120m Barkers of Kensington office scheme in West London, where work is due to begin this Spring.

Glenigan also pointed to several contractors coming into 2025 after securing considerable workloads in 2024.

Last year, Multiplex Construction Europe won the most work with £1.3bn across four projects. Morgan Sindall was the most prolific with 115 projects, worth over £1bn combined.

Glenigan added: “With investors’ appetite for office and commercial developments growing, the prospects for the capital look set to progress.”
